Cognitive development- contrast and compare

I was collecting some rocks at the park and then I collect them at the play ground. Then we figured out which ones are shiny and smooth. Then we took them all the way home.

In this one we were figuring out which one was sharp and smooth and shiny.

That's a picture of you trying to show me how to make the rocks pretty sharp.

That's a picture of me trying to hold them in my hands to take them home.

Wild strawberry hunt

We needed to go all the way there to get the strawberries. I was very lonely when there was so many kids trying to help me, but then I saw them and got it. I asked the teacher to help me.
I got home and I still feeled like collecting them. I said I wanted to go the kindergarten forest and Mummy and Daddy didn't know which one it was.

Maybe that can be our strawberry patch.

I picked one up and had a picture of it showing it to my Daddy. I picked one and ate one, and it was very yummy the one that was half red. I'm just exciting when I was collecting. Yeah, I want to collect them again. I want to collect some teeny tiny strawberries.

merry-go-'round

This photo is from my birthday. Mommy and Daddy took me to the central park where I jumped in the bouncy castle and rode on the merry-go-'round. It was fun!

Computer school

"I'm learning how to read and write at the same time. I can write them down cos I'm doing it by myself Daddy."
(Note from ed: Abigail came up with the idea of copying the words she is learning into a notebook, all on her own.  Maybe we shouldn't push her too much (which we haven't at all), as she seems to be enjoying learning so much.... ahh educational theory... that we have to apply on our own... but we'll figure it out I guess.)

Now I'm 5!

I had a birthday party! My cake was a ballet girl! Jessie, Ella, Zack, Jonathan, and Stevie came. The was cupcakes, fairy bread, and fruit. Stevie and Jonathan gave me a present. It was a Moxie doll, and a dinosaur egg. It hatched right now! And Jessie, Ella and Zack gave me a tea set that I painted.

Then on my dirthday today Mommy and Daddy gave me a doll house! I like about the doll house because it has a water tank and lots of furniture. What I don't like is that theres no place for them to get across the high places.

Russian Kinder

Today I went to Russian Kindergarden for the first time. I said Mommy, Mommy Mommy! because I so much missed her when we went to the forest. I played lots of things like puzzles, towers, but I just didn't know how to get the blocks cause I thought it was going to break. Oh, yeah! there was music and walking circles, and you listen and try to copy it. I don't know what the teachers name is, and I forgot the other one's name. There was one and then there was two teachers. There were lots of children, and when we went for a walk all of them wanted to catch up with the teachers. We did music inside and then we walked in the forest outside. Rumble, Rumble, my tummy went! Mommy and PJ came to get me at lunch time. I think I want to go again, I can do it when I want to.

Making Peanut Butter

We made Peanut Butter today!  First you have to take the skins off.  (Mommy roasted them first)
Next you put the peanuts in the blender and push the button LOTS of times.

Until it looks like this:

I tasted a bit then, just to make sure it was yummy. Then you add oil, icing sugar, and salt.

We ate our fresh peanut butter on toast. It was really yummy!

I gave some to Daddy, and he liked it too. He said it was the best Peanut Butter he has ever tasted!
(PJ's not old enough to have any yet)

We even made the jar!

Some flowers are for picking, others are not

One of the things that I have really been looking forward to about coming back to Russia is the ice slides.  But it's not Winter at the moment.

But there are some good things about Summer time.  One of them is that there are flowers.  There is a forest near our house, and there are lots of flowers there.  I just love flowers.

But you are now allowed to pick the flowers in this forest.  Mummy and Daddy tried to a couple of years ago and some Babushkas yelled at them and told them off.  Daddy thinks that it is because, that if everyone picked the flowers then there would be none left for anyone to enjoy.  I think it's because if everyone picked the flowers, then there would be no bees to make honey.

We left the forest and came back to the street.  There were lots of flowers by the side of the road.

And guess what?  I was allowed to pick those ones!  Mummy says that dandelions are really great flowers, because they are pretty and you are also allowed to pick them.  :)

I'm not picking it, I'm just pretending.

I wanted Daddy to take a photo, cos I like the purple thing I'm standing next to.

Isn't it pretty?  They had a pink one too. Both of my favourite colours, although I like purple more.

Later I got to play in the sand pit.

Home school

I will be starting home school properly in September. For the mean time Mommy has started practising home school with me. Yesterday we wrote some words and then also learnt some science about the human body. It was heaps of fun.

I would also like to go to Russian kindergarten in September if Mommy and Daddy can find a good one. I will have to learn some Russian before then, so I might have lessons with a lady when we move into our apartment.

Where is it on my map?

My Daddy is very good at finding things on maps. On the airplane they gave me a map of my own, so I used it the other day to help us find our way around the city, just like Daddy. But whenever I asked Daddy where we were on my map, we were always in the same place.
