Library

Mommy and I went to the library today. Mommy remembered all the right papers so they let us take some books home! I chose 4 and Mommy chose one too. We get to keep them for 2 weeks or we can go back and trade them for other books. They had a whole room full of kids books. One of the library ladies tried to read to me, maybe next time I'll let her. I tried to show her the picture of a monkey on one of the books, but she kept saying it wrong- she said obyazanka, that doesn't sound anything like monkey.

I know you like to read lots and lots of books. It will be really good to be able to change for new ones every couple of weeks. It sounds like you think books are supposed to be in English. But books can be in any language. I will read to you in English though. I like your ponytail. YOur hair is growing so long and pretty. Is it hard to sit while mommy puts it in a ponytail?

Grandma! I just looked at the lady funny and said "monkey!" I'm not so sure I like it yet when people speak Russian, I think I need more Russian friends.
I can never sit still for very long, I am a wriggle worm, so yes it is very hard when Mommy puts things in my hair. I like to hold on to the pony tail sometimes, and it comes out after a while when I hold it too much.

this summer you will find Russian friends while you play outside. Mommy will be more comfortable talking with their moms too so you will learn to be OK whichever way people want to talk to you. In a little while you can braid your hair. They dont mind being played with as much as pony tails do. I bet your mommy doesnt smile when she gets a ponytail fixed in your hair and it comes out after you feel it just a little bit. Do you get to see it in the mirror or do you have to feel it to examine it ?

Hi Abigail! I bet you think the library is like a "gold mine" of books. You're rich stuff to read! It will be good to know two or more languages; you're very lucky to get a chance to learn another language while you're still a little girl. When you get as old as grandpa it gets much harder.
