Playing with Katya

This is Katya, Uncle Yura and Aunty Alona's daughter. We played together quite a lot. She is 6 too. Sometimes we got on really well, sometimes we fought. Katya likes to play all the same games as me. She likes to do crafts too.
Sometimes Katya would go and play with her neighbours, but I did not go.
Katya and I spoke Russian together. I have learnt lots more Russian in Evenkiya. Maybe we will come here again.

We can put this on my blog about Evenkiya!

I went to Uncle Yura's workshop where he makes clothes and boots. He made an Evenki costume for Katya. I tried it on. Don't I look pretty in the Evenki costume?

Here I am with Katya and PJ.

Here is Katya wearing he own costume.

Making blueberry jam

We found some more blueberries when we went on a family walk. I wanted to take them home to Krasnoyarsk with us. Dad told me that we couldn't do that because they would go off, and that I should just eat them. But Mum told me we could make jam. We didn't have enough for jam, so Dad went out and picked some more so that we would.
I'm really happy that we made jam to take home. We put it in two jars. I want to save some for Grandpa when he comes soon, cos I know he likes blueberries.

Doing Evenki bead art with Marina

We visited Marina today. When she was living at Katya's house last year she taught me how to do bead art. Today she taught me something more difficult, how to make circles that look like Evenki suns.

Then Marina took us around town. Here I am standing with Mum at the river.

Here I am at the fresh water spring outside the town.

Peeling potatoes

Here I am in the kitchen in Evenkiya. I'm helping Totya (that means Aunty in Russian) Alona to peel potatoes. The potatoes came straight our of her garden. They're much yummier when they are fresh.

Is this a good or a bad mushroom?

Today Babushka took us into the forest to search for mushrooms. We looked everywhere for them. Mum and I kept finding them. But every time we asked Babushka she told us they were not the right kind. Eventually we started to figure it out and started finding the right ones.

This is a good mushroom.

This is not.

At the festival

The berries we picked in the morning were taken to the festival to be given to people as Evenki food. Today the Evenki people had a festival. We went along and watched. Yura and Alona sang some songs. I ran around and played with Katya. Sometimes I sat and watched with Mum and Dad.
There was a big playground next to the soccer field. I asked if we could play there. Lots of other kids were playing there too. I wanted Mum and Dad to watch me, because it was a very new place that I did not know.
Mum bought me a Russian hot dog to eat. Dad bought me some chips.

Picking blueberries in Evenkiya

I think Evenkiya must be a different country because they speak a different language here called Evenki. Although Katya still speaks Russian with me. Today we went picking berries in the forest.

I picked lots of berries. It was so much fun. I like to pick all sorts of berries. At home in Krasnoyarsk we can pick cherries and oblepikha. But in Evenkiya we picked lots of blueberries. They are really yummy when they are fresh.
